ADP is searching for a Principal Architect to join its team. This role can report out of our Alpharetta, GA, Miami, FL, Norfolk, VA or Roseland, NJ offices. This is a Hybrid role.

The ideal candidate for this position must have extensive experience with majority of the following F5 load balancers, Citrix Load Balancers, HAProxy, NGINX, API-Gateways, DNS, Content Delivery Networks (CDN), Web Application Firewalls (WAF), Digital Certificates, OpenSSL, Cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure) and have a background in meeting security compliance such as HiTrust, ISO, and PCI. In this role you will be responsible for:

  • Support adoption of new Web Services Security technologies and tools, recommend capability improvements, and assist in lab/QA deployments for technology trials.
  • Participate in all facets of requirements gathering, prioritization, design, development, testing and execution (Proof of Concept) of Web Services engineering and security requests
  • Work closely with senior IT and business leaders to align IT activities with business strategy & objectives.
  • Build strong cross-organizational relationships; effectively work with staff across the IT organization and the broader enterprise to align the network security technologies with overall organization needs.
  • Liaise with vendors and service providers to identify and select the products or services that best support the organization's global network strategies.
  • Provide Infrastructure performance and capacity guidance by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends.
  • Identify emerging network & web security solutions and in coordination with Global Security, evaluate products.
  • Regularly communicate the status of web services and network security initiatives to IT leadership and internal business partners
  • Be a mentor to other team members and lead through example by influencing the use of standards defined by the team and technical leadership.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or Computer Science. Master’s preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience with Web Infrastructure Architecture & Security Design
  • Experience in Administration and management of F5 LTM & GTM Load balancers and/or HA Proxy, NGINX, Citrix load balancers
  • Experience with Firewalls – Fortinet, Palo Alto a plus
  • Experience with API Gateways. Web Application Firewalls and BOT Protection. F5 Shape experience a plus.
  • Experience with Cloud Web Application Firewalls – Akamai Kona Defender, AWS WAF, Imperva, Cloudflare
  • Understanding of PKI, Digital Certificates including but not limited to OpenSSL and Keytool commands for certificate creation, format conversion, export and import of certificates to the key stores, encoding and decoding of files, message level encryption as well Mutual Authentication
  • Linux (SLES and RHEL)

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

Here's what you can expect on a typical day:

  • Blueprints and Strategy. You will influence and govern current and future design blueprints and promote architectural initiatives that generate revenue, improve efficiency, and support our business strategy. You will ensure that what we do solves both enterprise and local needs. 
  • Team Work. You'll start every day with a project and/or project listing with other team members, working together to understand responsibilities, identify issues, and communicate design and delivery priorities.
  • Delivery. After working with engineering on a design, you will work through delivery install and handoff to operations group to bring it to life using tools like OpenSource HaProxy, Layer7 API gateways, python, bash, F5, Splunk. You will review their configurations, refine it if necessary, and jump in and configure critical areas yourself.
  • Challenges. Inevitable challenges will arise, and we'll rely on you to look for a solution. You love a challenge and revel in the opportunity of finding one.
  • Learning and Teaching. You're on a team of technical experts, so when issues arise, you'll be contributing to the fix. When you present a design, you are open to feedback from your engineer team since you believe collaboration helps strengthen your ideas, especially if someone thought of something you hadn't considered. After all, we all have the same goal, develop the best solutions we can for our clients.
  • Variety of work. There is no typical day. Some days you will dedicate to design, operational support or mentoring team members, while others you will spend on projects for quality assurance, security, UX, or any number of other functions.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Web Services, Firewalls Load Balancing, API Gateways, DNS, Web Application and API security
  • Experience with F5/ Citrix Netscaler/ HA Proxy/ NGINX, Palo Alto/ Fortinet, Akamai/ Cloudflare/ Imperva
  • Experience with BOT Detection platforms
