Position: Power Electronics Engineer – Hardware Design AC/DC Converters Exp.
Location: Baltimore, Maryland (Relocation assistance offered)

Position Description:
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Design and testing of SiC-based power electronic converter topologies including active rectifiers, isolated DC-DC converters, solid-state-transformers, and high-speed motor drives.
- Design and test DSP-based digital control algorithms, FPGA-supported modulators, and PLC-based high-level system controllers.
- Detailed PCB designs including SiC gate drivers, system control PCBs, and support hardware.
- Design and test medium voltage (3.3 – 10 kV) SiC semiconductor modules.
- Experience with medium voltage power distribution, solid-state-transformers, surge protection, and medium voltage isolation requirements highly desirable.
Education and Qualifications:
- BS in Electrical Engineering, or closely related 4-year degree?
- MS and/or PhDs a plus.
- Must have 5 to 8 years of Power Electrical/Electronic experience.
- Experience designing motor drives, ac-dc, and dc-ac converter control algorithms.
- Controller Hardware in the Loop Experience.
- Experience with converter designed with SiC and/or GaN.
- Medium Voltage power distribution, transformers, and/or surge protection experience.
- Mil-spec design experience.
- PCB design experience.
- Experience in at least one of the following AutoCAD Electrical? Altium? OrCAD?
- Technical Writing skills and experience.
- All experience levels considered – mid level, senior and principal engineers.
- Experience programming various microcontrollers and DSPs a plus.
- United States Citizenship is required.
Immediate Requirements/Projects include:
· High Power SiC and Silicon power device design into converters/inverters
· EMI/EMC MIL 461 Compliance and other MIL-spec design requirements
· Multiple parallel/series-connected bi-directional galvanically isolated AC/DC, DC/DC converters
· 13.8 kV and 4160V grid interface power converters
· MV Isolated DC-DC converters
· Power levels 50KW to 500KW converters/inverters that are linked together for higher power levels up in MWs
· Navy (surface & sub), Army vehicles and infrastructure, Aircraft potentially
