Power Electronics Design And Layout Engineer

In this role you will be doing hybrid support with main focus is on PCB , layout & schematics design for projects and prototypes also supporting design and development activity as needed. This position is a “In person” position based out of the Innovation Hub located in Stone Mountain, Georgia. In this position you will be directly reporting to power electronics hardware manager, and you will work with senior engineers to help develop and validate reliable, consistent, and efficient products. This role needs to be agile, professional, and comfortable in a rapidly changing environment. The right person is trustworthy who works hard even when no one is noticing.

Key Responsibilities:

- Create schematics and PCB layout requirements.

- Must have understanding of layout techniques for discrete switching devices, low parasitic ground loop for converters and gate driver layouts.

- Implement design for EMC and manufacturing compatibility during PCB design phase.

- Be expert in power electronics simulation tool and prepare detailed component models (IGBT, Transistors, Gate driver IC’s , Current sensor, Inductor etc) for the components used in Sonnen system.

- Involve and support in design and development activity. - Design/Layout of Printed Circuit boards to IPC standards and best practices.

- Preparing required schematic designs, BOMs, necessary documentations, routing multilayer PCBs. Work alongside engineers throughout every step of the design process from prototypes through production.

- Creating full PCB fabrication packages for approved PCB fabricators. - Preparing the PCB and Package designs per Sonnen Product release procedures.

- Collaborate with PCB suppliers to improve design rules, constraints, testability, and manufacturability.

- Independently determine general approach and provide reliable solutions to technical problems including work through complex issues as they appear on layouts.

- Explore and implement automated method of handling alternate component part numbers and automated way of assigning Sonnen part numbers to library parts.

- Maintain Sonnen component library and be a librarian for new part footprint and layout.

- prototype/product functionalities and features.

- Ability to report, organize and analyse test results to make meaningful conclusion.

- Additionally support development activity and support Sr. Engineers within the group.

- Travel 5% of the occasionally.

Specific Skills / Abilities:

- At least 2 years of experience of using industry known PCB Design Software (Preferred: Altium Designer . Cadence Allegro, Orcad PCB Editor, Protel, PADS, P-CAD, etc.) to design power electronics layout and schematics
