We are looking for a postdoctoral scientist with abackground in Mycobacterium tuberculosis and in immunology to study theefficacy of experimental immunotherapies and vaccines for TB using both murineand nonhuman primate models. Our primary goal is to establish the role of hostdirected therapies for TB using latest state-of-the-art techniques like singlecell RNA sequencing, high parameter flow cytometry and confocal microscopy. Dueto an immensely collaborative environment, candidate needs to be self-drivenand capable of propelling their own research project while assisting other labmembers in their research endeavors. Necessary experiments include those involvingmolecular biology, pathology, immunology and microbiology. It is expected that thiswork will lead to high impact publications.
The postdoctoral scientist will work closely with the Principal InvestigatorDr. Mehra along with other lab members in high containment (ABSL3). Thepostdoctoral scientist will have great opportunities to use state-of-the-arttechnologies at the exceptional environment of SNPRC and Texas Biomed and workwith national and international collaborators while performing cutting edgeresearch on infectious diseases like tuberculosis and AIDS.
RESPONSIBILITIESAND DUTIES:
Capable of design and troubleshootexperiments.
Perform and assist in immunological experiments including primary cell culture, blood processing, isolation of lymphocytes and macrophages, immunophenotyping etc.
Performing and assisting team members infunctional assays including assessinginnate/adaptive immune responses, ex vivo antigenic re-stimulation, andpathogenesis.
Willing to work in team and contribute in collaborative studies.
Communicate results by publishing in highimpact peer reviewed journals and participating in international conferences/seminars
