Job description

Dr. Jo Ishizawa, Assistant Professor in the Section of Molecular Hematology & Therapy, Department of Leukemia at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, invites applications for a postdoctoral position. We are looking for a highly motivated individual with technical expertise, particularly in immunology based on solid knowledge of molecular biology and substantial experiences of in vivo mouse work. In addition, candidates are supposed to have a great interest in developing novel molecular-based therapy for hematologic malignancies.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
The applicant will conduct research on immune regulation in acute myeloid leukemia (AML) focusing mainly on mitochondrial biology and drug resistance in leukemia stem cells. The research will aim at developing a novel combinatorial therapy to treat therapy-resistant AML by utilizing gene editing and pharmacological approach in in vitro and in vivo leukemia models.
The researcher will present scientific results in project meetings, national and international conferences, and high-impact scientific publications.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
The ideal candidate is a well-trained molecular immunologist. Ph.D. with expertise in the following areas of discipline but not restricted to molecular cloning, CRISPR/Cas9-based gene editing, OMICs analyses, multi-color flow cytometry, and/or mouse work. Molecular biology skills and deep knowledge on assays for immunology research are highly desirable.
The applicant enjoys data- and hypothesis-driven research and promotes scientific collaboration within the research group and will have excellent written and spoken (English) communication skills. The candidate should have one or more publications as a first author

POSITION INFORMATION
MD Anderson follows the NIH stipend levels as outlined by the Kirchstein - NRSA. This full-time trainee position will provide a salary between $56,484 to $68,604, dependent upon the years of postgraduate experience.
