PLUS SUPPLEMENTAL INSTRUCTION COORDINATOR
Student Services Professional II
Early Academic Preparation 

Salary Range: $4,610 - $6,556/Monthly

Work Schedule: Full-Time, Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; Temporary appointment expires on or before one-year from date of hire; may be extended; may become permanent; exempt classification.

Essential Functions: Incumbent is responsible for coordinating Peer Led Undergraduate Study (PLUS) sessions as well as embedded tutoring for quantitative reasoning courses. This position advances GI 2025 goals and is designed to improve pass rates, reduce equity gaps, and ultimately first-year retention rates. This coordinator is responsible for the following: work closely with the Early Alert Coordinator and the Academic Coaching Coordinator as part of a team responsible for designing and implementing pro-active interventions for students who may be struggling in Math; work closely with Math department coordinators to content and structure for PLUS sessions that are aligned with first-year Math curriculum in statistics, pre-calculus, and general education math; using University Kansas Missouri's Supplemental Instruction guidelines, provide training and ongoing development for PLUS leaders. Develop boot camps and other dedicated study sessions for mid-terms and final exams; implement engagement activities designed to promote learning and create a sense of belonging for students enrolled in Early Start Math; and working with the math department and the College of Engineering and Technology summer programs to provide support for students using on-line ALEKS program.

Required Qualifications & ExperienceEquivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration or a job-related field. Additional specialized experience during which the applicant has acquired and successfully applied the knowledge and abilities shown above may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis. Equivalent of two years of professional experience in one of the student services program areas or in a related field; experience should give evidence of competence and indicate the potential for further growth. A master's degree in a job-related field may be substituted for one year of the professional experience. The incumbent must have working knowledge of University practices, procedures, regulations, and guidelines. The candidate must demonstrate excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills; and possess excellent organizational skills and have an understanding of standard office procedures. The incumbent must have the ability to communicate by phone, email, and in-group settings; plan, organize and prioritize work; develop and maintain database systems; establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; exercise tact, courtesy, alertness and good judgment when responding to others, and function as part of a team;  multi-task, be detailed oriented, complete assignments in a timely manner, and work under pressure; computer literate and be proficient in standard word processing and database software including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint. The incumbent must have a demonstrated interest and/or ability to work in a multicultural/multiethnic environment. A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the California State University.
