Job Description
Our client is seeking a qualified Plant Manager in Gardner, MA.
SUMMARY: The Plant Manager is responsible for coordinating various daily production functions in partnership with the VP of Manufacturing and/or President, Maintenance Department, Tooling Department and the Quality Assurance Department in order to meet the company’s production goals and quality standards
Job Duties:
- Work with production schedules to arrange for mold conversions, changes, and preventative maintenance on Molding machines.
- Oversee schedule of machines and mold changes.
- Follow production schedule and advise floor personnel of any upcoming changes in material, color etc.
- Oversee the activities of all Shift Supervisors in support of safety, quality and productivity.
- Work with customer orders and interface with Maintenance Manager, Quality Manager
- and Mold Technicians to establish efficient and effective schedules and priorities.
- Assure that all safety requirements are observed and that work areas are maintained in
- a neat and orderly condition.
- Make necessary adjustments to machines and auxiliary equipment.
- Test new molds and recommend changes or alterations as requested.
- Work with Shift Supervisors to diagnose and correct manufacturing problems on molds, material, machines, etc.
- Recommend cycle times assuring quality parts.
- Perform minor maintenance repairs.
- Administration of department/shift documentation and reports, time keeping records, performance, etc.
- Complete daily production records, input data into utilization format.
- Responsible to select, train (or supervise training of), assign, discipline and/or recommend termination of department personnel.
- Conduct performance appraisals and solve routine personnel problems.
- Review backorder status on a weekly basis with Production Scheduler.
- Coordinate, train and oversee maintenance on mold-work order system.
Education and Skill Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Management or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Proven track record in managing a Molding Operation with general knowledge of injection machine operations and comprehensive understanding of molds.
- Strong communication skills (written, verbal and presentation) and ability to understand and work from written and/or verbal instructions.
- Excellent problem solving, organizational, analytical and interpersonal skills required.
- Computer experience in Windows environment, including CRM, MS Office Suite and IQMS.
- Must be able to fluently read, write and speak the English language.
- Available to travel on occasion, possibly overnight, and maintain a valid driver’s license.
