Job description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Support HUSD Vision, Mission and Goals
  2. Performs a variety of daily routine custodial and maintenance tasks at assigned work site.
  3. Conducts daily inspection of campus. Opens buildings, doors, and gates, to prepare for school day. Secures buildings, doors, and gates. Checks for, and corrects, any obvious safety hazards.
  4. Sets up cafeteria for student lunch periods. Cleans cafeteria after lunch.
  5. Sets up/break down areas used for meetings and ensure tables and chairs are organized according to provided layout.
  6. Moves furniture, books, boxes, and equipment.
  7. Performs wide range of tasks to maintain the school plant (i.e. routine painting, plumbing, electrical wiring, heating/cooling, other maintenance activities.
  8. Performs minor maintenance on campus, such as changing air conditioner/heating filters, light bulbs, and repairing furniture or equipment to ensure proper working condition. Reports vandalism or other facility damage to Facility Supervisor. Generates work orders for major repairs/maintenance, as needed.
  9. Reports all safety or security risks or exposures such as broken windows, doors, electrical, plumbing or mechanical fixtures, furniture, open trenches etc., to Facility Supervisor.
  10. Maintains accurate inventory records of equipment and supplies needed to properly maintain facilities and assist with budget requirements.
  11. Responds to emergency situations.
  12. Assist Principal with security by securing facilities and grounds for the purpose of minimizing property damage and to ensure safe work environment.
  13. Assists Principal and staff with energy conservation.
  14. Submits requests for equipment and supplies as needed.
  15. Provides input to Facility Supervisor and Grounds Foreman Supervisor regarding summer maintenance of school.
  16. During summer break employee may be reassigned to the General Maintenance Department as needed.
  17. Attends training, as required by the District.
  18. Due to the potential for access to confidential information, it is absolutely mandatory that this position safeguard and maintain the confidentiality of the information stored and discussed.
  19. Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
  1. Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent.
  2. Two years of maintenance and custodial experience preferred.
  3. Working knowledge of all types of commercial cleaning and sanitizing products, and their appropriate use.
  4. Proficiency in the use of commercial cleaning equipment.
  5. Working knowledge of general maintenance tools and equipment.
  6. Ability to perform heavy manual labor.
  7. Effective communicator who works cooperatively with others.
  8. Must have the ability to obtain Certification in First Aid and CPR.
  9. Ability to pass background and reference checking as stipulated by District standards.
  10. Valid IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.

  4. Raising or lowering objects from one level to another from 25 - 75 lbs.
  5. Exerting force upon an object so that the object moves away from the force or towards the force.
  6. Frequently required to position body to perform maintenance duties by bending body downward and forward at the waist often requiring full use of the lower extremities and back muscles, bending body downward and forward by bending legs and spine.
  7. Occasionally ascending or descending ladders and stairs using feet and legs or hands and arms.
  8. Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
  9. Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, crouching on narrow slippery surfaces.
  10. Seizing, holding, grasping, turning, or otherwise working with hand or hands.
  11. Clarity of vision at various ranges up to 20 feet including observing an area that can be seen up and down or to the right or left while eyes are fixed on a given point.
  12. Ability to judge distances and spatial relationships so as to see objects where and as they actually are.
  13. Exposure to the following environmental conditions including weather, moving mechanical parts, electric shock, vibration, extreme heat, noise, and toxic chemicals.

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: Full-Time Position - 12 months, Monday - Friday, 8 hours a day.
SALARY CLASSIFICATION: Appropriate salary placement on the Classified Hourly Salary Schedule.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated by Site Administrator and according to District Policy.
