The Physical Therapist is responsible for clinical/patient care, departmental maintenance, and proper patient documentation and departmental recordkeeping as assigned by the Director and policies and practice guidelines.
Principle Accountabilities:
1. Evaluates patients and reviews medical history in order to establish appropriate care plan in consultation with physician.2. Determines and appropriately documents limitations in functions through diagnostic and prognostic muscle, nerve, joint and functional ability tests. 3. Implements and continually evaluates treatment plans to accurately determine the effectiveness of treatment, need for plan/treatment modification, and the establishment or modification of goals. 4. Educates patient and patient's significant others in regards to characteristics of the patient's condition, functional training, home exercise and prevention measures in a knowledgeable and courteous manner.5. Completes all documentation related to patient treatment and communicates all pertinent information to nursing staff, case management, or all other staff necessary.6. Supervises and evaluates Physical Therapist Assistants and students from affiliating Universities according to pre-established standards.7. Attends all department meetings when possible and participates in all mandatory in-services including scheduled Interdisciplinary Rehab in-services and presentations.8. Participates in the development and implementation of quality improvement activities by performing studies, collecting data, interpreting results and suggesting improvements in a thorough and accurate manner.9. Performs other duties as assigned.
Education
Bachelor of Science, Master's degree of doctorate degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited institution required.

Minimum one year physical therapy experience, hospital and/OP setting preferred.
Evaluate skills necessary for patient assessment.
Decision making skills required for treatment planning/implementation.
Clinical reasoning and judgment skills necessary for safety of patients and self.
Excellent oral and written communication skills to interact with patients, visitors and staff.
Ability to recognize need for and alter communication with patients with communication impairments.
Ability to manage time, organize daily schedule to meet productivity standards, and cope with professional stress.
