Position Summary
The Photojournalist Internship is focused on photography and collecting testimonials to support The Fund’s communications efforts.
This role is a hybrid position and splits time between working remotely from home and at program sites multiple times a week at The Fund’s camps in Fishkill, NY, Harriman State Park and regional photo shoots for The Fund’s Friendly Towns program.
This is a seasonal role from Monday, June 24, 2024, through Friday, August 16, 2024. Typical hours are 9am-5pm, with the possibility for occasional evening and weekend commitments, working no more than 35 hours per week.
Responsibilities:
- Photograph camp activities and interview Fresh Air Fund participants and camp staff
- Use provided Canon Mirrorless camera and edit images using Adobe Lightroom
- Upload images to The Fund’s photo database
- Navigate participant records in Salesforce database
- Organize and present interviews, photographs and other relevant content to the Communications Team
- Coordinate with members of camp staff to determine best activities to photograph each day
- Assist with other departmental tasks such as social media and cataloging and tagging photographs
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18+ years of age. At least one year of college is preferred
- Comfortable working outdoors
- Required experience: 1-3 years (including internships, relevant coursework and work-study programs)
- Excellent photography skills
- Experience using Canon camera systems and Adobe Lightroom is a plus
- Videography experience (filming and/or editing) a plus
- Strong organizational, time management and interpersonal skills
- Drive to learn in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work independently, and to follow directions
- Interest in joining a youth development organization and supporting its mission and vision
