The Role: Duties and Essential Job Functions
The Phlebotomist's primary responsibilities support the day-to-day operations of collection center compliance in providing our customers, in the biomedical research community, with the highest quality products to fuel research.
Duties and Essential Job Functions:
- Demonstrate excellence in customer/donor service.
- Receive, log, and trace specimens while following HIPPA regulations for donor/sample security.
- Ensure collection and quality compliance for blood, cells, tissue and apheresis donations.
- Perform cell counts and analysis on specimens.
- Assist with bone marrow collections.
- Support regular routine maintenance and cleanliness of facilities.
- Provide support for the Injury & Illness Prevention Program as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Flexible work schedule, including weekends, will be needed based on project requirements.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Phlebotomy certification
- At least 6 months of phlebotomy experience.
- Knowledge of medical procedures and conditions and ability to understand, follow and successfully perform duties, including whole blood collection and apheresis procedures, in accordance with administrative and medical policies, regulations and procedures.
- Education sufficient to perform all tasks and to read, understand and follow Standard Operating Policies and Procedures and regulatory materials.
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to follow protocols to maintain quality systems.
- Demonstrated critical thinking and troubleshooting skills.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 30 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with blood banking techniques
- Knowledge of Office 365
- Experience with EHR systems
