Phlebotomist I

This position will perform blood draws on study participants as part of required study activities. Additionally, this position will follow all study protocols for the collection, labeling and processing of blood samples including universal infection control procedures and accurate participant identification. This role is critical to the execution of our research activities as the blood samples and associated biological specimens are primary outcome data for these studies. Additionally, the job responsibilities associated with this position require extensive training in effective puncture techniques and knowledge of legal requirements about drawing blood, handling fluid samples and the use of relevant medical equipment and materials.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

• Collects, labels, and processes patient specimens following strict protocol for the collection of blood samples, including patient identification and universal infection control procedures.
• Ensures the accurate labeling of all specimens according to protocol.
• Processes glassware through washing and drying machines.
• Maintains and inspects supply levels to ensure immediate availability.
• Performs related responsibilities as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• A high school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of a training course or one year of experience as a phlebotomist.

NOTE: Position tasks are generally required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location. Remote work from home day options may be granted at department discretion. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
