Job Summary
To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we're looking to add a PCBA Process Engineer located in Austin, TX.
Reporting to the Director, Process Engineering, the PCBA Process Engineer will be focused on cost, quality and delivery improvements in order to hold up a manufacturing organization. Responsible for DFM analysis and PCBA process development for SMT for the entire site with special focus on New Product Introduction at the Product Innovation Center.
WHAT A TYPICAL DAY LOOKS LIKE:
- Interface with Design Engineering (internal and external) to optimize circuit assemblies to meet Design For Manufacturing (DFM) guidelines.
- Execute team based DFM, Lean Manufacturing and NPI reviews with the SMT manufacturing team, technical program management and customer as applicable.
- Research and evaluate new equipment and technologies for the SMT m manufacturing process.
- Responsible for process development at the PIC area and production areas when required.
- Ensure internal KPI's are met and work with cross functional departments to put tools/processes in place to ensure KPI's are met consistently.
- Create/Establish processes for special processes required to execute complex builds.
- Run Design of Experiments (DOE) for new components or processes.
- Interface with Customers, Quality Assurance and other functional areas to establish root cause and long term corrective actions.
- Have the capability to singly or with other engineering stakeholders identify root causes of failures in the manufacturing process.
- Prepare justification, purchase and implement capital equipment for production.
- Hold up and oversee new process equipment for production and new product introduction.
- Establish robust, repeatable and reproducible process parameters.
- Develop, implement, and take ownership of process control methodologies.
- Trouble shoot process related issues.
- Evaluate and select various engineered materials (including pastes, epoxies and fluxes)
- Implement safety, productivity and give in improvements.
- Improve manufacturing techniques and through put.
- Develop and maintain process documentation.
- Assist in the development of training and provide training to production personnel during new technology transfer.
- Provide equipment maintenance and repair hold up as required.
- Guide cost improvement/reduction programs.
THE EXPERIENCE WE'RE LOOKING TO ADD TO THE TEAM:
- Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience and training.
- Typically requires 8-10 years of effective and hands on experience in engineering in the high technology electronics industry or related area.
- Extensive experience in PCBA and SMT processes along with DFM / DFx analysis
- Problem solving abilities including experience in a fast pace manufacturing business.
- Communication, problem solving, team player, adaptability, creativity, interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence
