Senior PCB Component Engineer

As the Printed Circuit Board Component Engineer, you will enable the necessary connections within the systems at blazing fast signal speeds and enable the next generation of printed circuit board technology at Juniper. You will collaborate internally with New Product Introduction teams to bring up new features, laminates and board designs. You will collaborate on bringing increased value in existing products by leveraging your knowledge in PCB's to optimize material choices, stackups and drive change within the organization and at suppliers. You will partner with our strategic and preferred PCB suppliers, and their best process engineers, to continuously improve PCB process technology.

Above all, you will work with the best PCB team in the Telecom industry to release and support cutting edge products with state-of-the-art processes.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Technology Influencer
  • Works with PCB Technologists, PCB Layout and Signal Integrity as subject matter expert within Juniper on PCB process technology and supplier capabilities for current and next generation products
  • Assess supplier readiness for next generation of PCB features / requirements, leading efforts to close on gaps that exist.
  • Responsible to present to executive level on status of PCB Technology Development as well as Supplier capabilities and performance.


Continuous Improvement Champion
  • Subject matter expert on the PCB manufacturing processes leading continuous improvement efforts identifying and implementing lessons learned and best practices across supply base.
  • Improve Procedures and Specifications in PCB by capturing lessons learned and best practices in requirements
  • Monitor suppliers' yield performance leading component defect reduction projects and collaborating with Supplier Quality Engineering for Supplier Improvement and Development in support of strategy.
  • Participates in CETQ strategic initiatives and assists in driving them to ensure consistency and standardization within the organization.


NPI Supporter
  • 'Go-to' Subject Matter Expert (SME) in PCB process capability for New Product Introduction (NPI) / Sustaining teams including program managers, PCBA Mfg Engineers, Sustaining Engineers and NPI Materials.


Key Sustaining and Commodity Team Member
  • Determines methods and procedures on new assignments and may coordinate activities with other engineers (Team Lead)
  • Integral contributor to the PCB Commodity Team to develop commodity strategy, supplier selection, sourcing decisions, and lead supplier technical audits.
  • Support Commodity Team in qualification processes; NPI, material, supplier, SI, and VE qualifications.
  • Supports MCO/ECO and Deviation activities ensuring they are complete and accurate prior to submitting and/or approving.
  • Manage change through supply base to ensure they have been implemented to Juniper requirements/specifications


Problem Resolution Driver
  • Acts as the primary liaison between Juniper's global contract manufacturing (CM) partners, Juniper PCBA Manufacturing Engineers and worldwide suppliers of PCBs to resolve all design, quality and/or process issues originating with printed circuit boards.
  • Manage PCB related quality events (notifications, updates, resolution, prevention) as required
    • Leader driving issue resolution and component failure analysis, containment, with corrective actions interface with manufacturing and engineering management to resolve complex technical problems.
    • CLCA methodology and demonstrated 8-Decipline (8D) corrective and preventative understanding and implementation.
    • Reports to Senior Management on the status of any production impacting events

  • Self-starter that works independently, identifying and leading PCB or CETQ projects of significant scope that may affect policy changes company wide.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent with 8 years in engineering or supporting role of PCB fabrication
  • Continuous Improvement Leadership track record, 6s Green Belt or better certification preferred
  • Demonstrated record of writing specifications to manage suppliers (product-related workmanship specifications).
  • Thorough understanding of IPC specs (e.g., IPC-A-600, IPC-A-610) and industry circuit board standards.
  • Must have extensive experience working with CAD and Gerber systems and tools.
  • Proficient in project management, problem-solving, and situational analysis.
  • Familiarity in managing international suppliers/manufacturing - must be flexible with working hours (must work with global time zones).
  • Excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal, and intercultural skills. This includes customer facing, supplier facing, and executive leadership internally and externally.
  • Ability to influence, empower and lead cross functional teams including supplier and CM site audits.
  • Ability for travel, including international travel (e.g. China, Taiwan, Malaysia, Mexico, etc)
  • Proficient in Agile and Microsoft Office products.


WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Office environment.
  • Off-hours support required.
  • Up to 25% domestic and international travel required.


Minimum Salary: $108,900.00

Maximum Salary:$166,980.00

The pay range for this position is expected to be between $108,900.00 and $166,980.00/year; however, the base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position also includes medical benefits, 401(k) eligibility, vacation, sick time, and parental leave. Additional details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

If hired, employee will be in an "at-will position" and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

Juniper's pay range data is provided in accordance with local state pay transparency regulations. Juniper may post different minimum wage ranges for permanent residency petitions pursuant to US Department of Labor requirements.
