Job Description
The Benefits & Payroll Specialist is responsible for all benefit activities, communication, monitoring, payment, analysis, and inquiry support. This position handles day-to-day tasks, plans wellness initiatives and projects, and ensures compliance of the total benefit program offering and use. As a member of the HR team, will participate in payroll tasks and audits.
All duties as assigned and the following specific activities.
- Responsible for benefit plan workforce implementation, explanation, communication, and follow up.
- Conducts all benefit enrollment and cancellation transactions; provides meetings, disseminates topic specific communication.
- Dedicated contributor and participant in annual open enrollment task and activities.
- Regular responsibility for new hire onboarding meetings, paperwork, documents, e-file, physical file, and timely benefit election and enrollment.
- Participates in payroll processing including data integrity, reporting, and audit tasks.
- Responsible for all benefit invoice processing, reporting, and analysis.
- Develops rapport all benefit plan representatives for best benefit implementation of all programs offered.
- Assists employees with any payroll or benefit related inquiries, including researching and arriving at solutions or appropriate recommendations.
- Responsible for data management in HRIS or other database system of benefit information for all employees.
- Responsible for audit activity and coordination.
- Provides internal support for benefit related inquires.

Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or a related field required
- Topic certification with associated work experience may be considered
Experience:
- 5 years of corporate human resources experience with a focus in benefits and payroll transactions- Multi-state, Multi- FEIN
- Demonstrated aptitude to administrate benefit programs across a large workforce in multiple locations with a variety of demographics, throughout employee life-cycle.
- Knowing how to process complex benefit plan offerings with multiple options and diverse features.
- Practiced using benefit management software in an HRIS system, including employee self-service, reports, content auditing, and documentation rules.
- Experience conducting benefit on-boarding sessions, including documents, communicating information, and generation of information resources.
- Participated in payroll transaction processing, documentation, employee assistance, auditing, and reporting.
- General competency of HR topics and able to participate in cross functional activity.
- Has a forward thinking propensity so as to apply benefit plan strategy and development using knowledge of workforce insurance use and preferences.
- Success with resolving employee concerns relating to payroll or benefits.
- Has navigated benefit carrier problem solving situations, recognizing urgency, details, legal, and communication to the employee.
- Can create metrics and tools to track benefit activity, used to analyze plans and drive plan design recommendations.
