The Patient Flow Coordinator will:
- Identify and prioritize patient admissions through admission records and within the hospital via recovery room, emergency department, etc., records.
- Assign patients to appropriate floor, bed type, and status based on criteria identified upon admission or physician orders.
- Notify the receiving units of the patient admission particulars and bed assignment.
- Continually assess the Patient Flow situations and notifying the appropriate persons when there are flow issues and delays in movement.
- Assure that director, nurse managers and directors are kept aware of related clinical and operational issues (discharges, admissions).
- Collaborate with Care Coordination staff on scheduled ambulance transfers and discharges.
Requirements:
- Three (3) years successful prior experience in a position requiring accuracy and attention to detail.
- Medical Terminology a plus but not required.
- Excellent Customer Service skills, including tact, diplomacy and sensitivity.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a culturally diverse setting with diverse contacts, both internally and externally.
- Able to perform general system computer skills; familiarity with MS Office applications
