The Patient Financial Representative serves the patients, providers and staff of Oregon Medical Group by empathetically guiding patients through the overdue balance collection process through proactive outreach and educational efforts using the flexible tools and vendors we work with.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Perform balance collection activities, including transferring overdue accounts to contracted vendors in compliance with government regulatory standards, payer specific guidelines, and OMG policy
  • Answer incoming patient calls to assist in overdue account resolution. Make outbound calls to overdue accounts identified from the practice management system or other reports in attempts to collect on outstanding receivables
  • Assist with solving payment and reimbursement problems; escalate issues in billing to other Revenue Cycle teams or leadership as needed
  • Process delinquent letters for overdue accounts and prepare documentation for accounts being transferred to collections. Proactively identify higher risk accounts and make attempts to resolve those balances before entering the collection process
  • Process financial assistance requests, payment plans, bankruptcy notices, assist patients with HUD applications, and deceased patient accounts. Post incoming payments and adjustments, including credit card payments onto patient accounts to resolve outstanding receivables
  • Assist the Customer Service team during high call volume periods
  • Maintain strictest confidentiality
  • Work on assigned projects as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma/GED, or equivalent experience
  • 1+ years of medical billing office experience, including claim processing or collection activity

Preferred Qualification:

  • EPIC EMR experience
