TITLE: Part Time -Lending MSR
REPORTS TO: Assistant Manager/CEO
Purpose
The Lending MSR (LMSR) performs the primary member service in loan processing as well as functioning as a high level MSR at front office Teller operations. He/she trains in loan approvals and may have lending authority as limited and approved by the Manager/CEO/Board of Directors. The LMSR primarily takes loan applications, processes credit information, functions as an MLO (mortgage loan officer in the National Mortgage Loan System) in communicating with members and taking applications and assisting in closing mortgage loans, submits loan applications to the Assistant Manager for approval or denial, cross-sells products, and services, will be back up for closing loans and serves as a Teller. He/she also backs up the ACH Front office task as needed. Confidentiality of member information is always maintained both inside, and outside, the Credit Union office.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Accept loan applications from members and potential members via in-person, by mail, fax, on-line, over the phone, etc. Answer questions and provide loan product information and suggestions on products, making sure to cross-sell appropriately.
2. Process loan applications by pulling credit, calculating debt ratios, obtaining collateral value and taking other steps to determine the credit risk of the applicant. After reviewing, will forward recommendations to the Assistant Manager for approval or denial.
3. Prepare loan documents and arrange/conduct loan closings once approved by Assistant Manager. Send denials to members and document CU files of members not approved. Counsel denied members on why credit was denied and how he/she could improve credit in order to qualify as a borrower in the future.
4. Act as liaison between service provided vendors. Refer invoices to the Manager for approval to pay.
5. Scan and file new, closed and change accounts.
6. Maintain the pending loan files, paid in full processing, and ensure all collateral is perfected in a timely manner or refer to Assistant Manager for escalation.
7. Keep log of credit decisions and closings for accurate loan minutes.
8. Conduct orientation interviews on credit union services and programs with each new credit union member.
9. Promote credit union products and services based on member needs that are obtained from member interviews and/or review of member’s accounts. Actively cross-sell products.
10. Acquire up-to-date and comprehensive knowledge on all credit union products and services offered as well as applicable policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.
11. Provide Teller services at the front office, and function as backup for ACH responsibilities as needed and assigned.
12. Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Manager/CEO.
