Park Ranger

A successful candidate will play an active role in the City of College Park's existing operational success. The purpose of the position is to perform heavy, manual labor in the areas of water, sewer, sanitation, stormwater, and buildings and grounds. Successful performance helps ensure safe and efficient Public Works services, as well as a positive public image for the City.

Independent judgment is required to identify, select and apply the most appropriate of available guidelines and procedures as well as interpret precedents. This position is responsible for policing; monitoring; general maintenance, participation of manicured mowing detail; detailed maintenance; and oversight of all City facilities. Work is performed under the supervision of the Department of Public Works & the Buildings and Grounds division.

• Monitor City facilities and oversee their use by citizens and the general public; Monitor rental agreements.
• Monitor and maintain supplies needed to maintain park sanitation.
• Communicate with Public Works Buildings and Grounds Division personnel via cell phone/radio as needed regarding any problems or safety concerns.
• Maintain sanitation control, general maintenance/janitorial services, landscaping, litter patrol, receptacle bag changing, etc. of all City-owned facilities, assist other divisions as needed.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

• Moderate physical activity. Requires handling objects of average-weight up to one hundred (100) pounds, standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day, climbing poles, bending, crouching, or stooping, and using tools and equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity, and distinguish between shades of color.

• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
• Possession of a valid Driver's License issued by the State of Georgia.
• Experience in communicating with diverse communities, and in establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships.
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite, as well as knowledge and understanding of the organizational structure, workflow, and operating procedures.
• Extensive hours and weekends will be required at times.
