Paraeducator, Elementary Library - RR2345

This position is 5.75 hours per day, 9 months per year. Pay is annualized and spread evenly through August.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: This position is part of the KAP bargaining unit.
All Paraeducator applicants are required to show proof of 72 college level credits, an AA degree (or higher), or passed the Para Professional Assessment. If an applicant is in need of testing, they can still apply, and if they are the finalist candidate they will need to pass the Para Professional before being hired into the role. Upon hire, new paraeducators will be required to complete state required training offered through our KSD Professional Development Team.
ASSIGNMENT: The purpose of this position is to provide instructional support to the librarian in an elementary school. Responsibilities typically include instruction of students, student discipline, planning, preparation of materials, and record keeping. This job involves supervision of student library helpers and computer cataloging and circulation of library materials.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

1. AA degree, 72 quarter-hour college credits, OR ParaPro Assessment with a passing score. (Transcripts or proof of parapro score must on file to be considered for an interview.)
2. Proof of High School completion. Copy of diploma or transcripts must be on file at start of employment. College transcripts that specifically state completion of high school will be accepted in lieu of high school diploma.
3. Completion of state required training upon hire.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Associates degree (AA) or 72 college level (Clvl) quarter-hour credits.* Transcripts must be on file to be considered for an interview. Completion of the ETS ParaPro Assessment test with a score of 455 or higher will be accepted in lieu of college credits. Proof of score must be on file.
2. Desire candidate with familiarity with Destiny library system.
3. Prefer candidate with accurate keyboarding skills and attentiveness to details.
4. Candidate must be flexible and work in a positive manner with students, staff and public.
5. Previous experience working with students preferred
6. Prefer candidate that is a team player, positive, with good communication skills.
7. Ability to exhibit multicultural and ethnic understanding and sensitivity with the ability to communicate effectively with all cultural groups in the school community.
8. Ability to communicate in another language.
9.
