The Painter will support Denver Zoo's mission by performing skilled, full performance interior and exterior painting on a variety of surfaces using various paint tools, equipment and applications techniques.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance, construction, tenant finish and remodel painting on a variety of surfaces
- Paint, varnish, stain, enamel, lacquer and redecorate walls, floors, woodwork and fixtures of buildings using appropriate tools and techniques.
- Tape and finish drywall, installs wall and floor coverings, removes old finishes and prepares surfaces and selects premixed paint or mixes paints to achieve desired color
- Survey and inspect facility or type of job, estimates material and labor costs and determines equipment needed.
- Prepare paint guns for proper line width and bead application; cleans and maintains tools and equipment.
- Maintain records and prepares daily activity reports.
- Run errands for materials, etc. as needed.
- Clean maintenance facilities.

Other Responsibilities and Duties
- Ability to read and work from manuals, blueprints, written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to operate spray equipment, various hand and power tools, and other equipment such as lifts.
- Knowledge of safety hazards and necessary safety precautions sufficient to be able to establish a safe work environment for self and others.
- Must possess good interpersonal communications skills.
- Must possess excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to work with little supervision.
- Ability to interact with fellow employees and guests at the zoo.
Technical / Professional Requirements & Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- 4 years skilled painting experience, industrial/commercial experience preferred.
Position Conditions
- Ability to pass a physical examination, background check and pre-employment drug and alcohol screen.
- Clear driving record
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Compensation
Range for this position is $20.61-$24.74 (hourly).
