This position will be responsible to provide unbiased information to patients and the community about health insurance, the Health Insurance Marketplace, qualified health plans, and public programs including Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program. Assist in qualifying patients for financial coverage for services rendered. Individual will also perform other community and outreach activities to increase the clinic’s effectiveness in responding to the health care access needs of those within the service area.
Two to Three years related health care experience and/or training.
Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid and third-party eligibility and procedural requirements.
Will be expected to successfully complete all required and applicable federal and/or state consumer assistance training to become a Certified Application Counselor.
Experienced in communicating directly with patients.
Displays good phone etiquette and provides good customer service.
