Job Summary
The Outpatient Behavioral Health MSW student intern primary responsibilities are to observe and gain training and experience in coordinating, planning, implementing, and facilitating programs and counseling services on an outpatient basis, and when needed, within the inpatient hospital setting. The MSW student intern will also gain exposure to the following areas: individual, group and family counseling, Employee Assistance Counseling (EAP), Chemical Dependency, Outpatient Adolescent Group Programming, and other current and future groups/programs. All of these areas may involve training in conducting assessments, facilitating treatment, and crisis intervention of clientele affected by substance abuse, addiction, and dual diagnoses issues.
Education and/or Experience
-Current immunizations
-Physical exam within the last year
-Current flu shot if internship occurs between October 1 and March 31
-COVID vaccination required
-National criminal background check
-HIPAA, infection control and safety training (we will provide if not covered by your academic program).

Education and/or Experience
- Must be an active student in an accredited Masters of Social Work Program
- Previous Human Service experience preferred.
- Internship credit obtained during the internship experience, required.
- If selected as an Avera intern, you will work with your school to complete/confirm the following:
