MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
A high school diploma or its equivalent and one (1) year of experience in a laboratory, the biological sciences, or related field.
College or vocational/technical training can substitute at the rate of 30 semester, 45 quarter or 720 classroom hours for the required experience provided such education includes three courses in the physical and/or natural sciences. (Note: If education is being used to qualify for this position, you must provide a copy of an official or unofficial transcript as supporting documentation showing the required coursework.)
Requires possession of a valid Driver License.

JOB DUTIES
General Statement: This position's primary responsibilities are basic tasks that support Hemiptera projects and regulatory activities of the Division of Plant Industry (DPI).
Sorting and recording of trap samples that monitor for target species or other newly invasive species.
Assisting with Entomology sample processing through LIST database.
Curating and maintaining Hemiptera collections.
Assisting with supplies to keep them clean and available to the appropriate staff.
Occasional greenhouse duties to include weeding, pruning, and cleaning.
Other related work as required by management.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of plant-insect interaction.
- Knowledge of basic laboratory safety procedures.
- Skill with data management, data entry, clerical and computer.
- Skill in written and verbal communication.
- Ability to work independently, compile written reports, and make innovations in equipment and techniques.
- Ability to compile and organize data.
- Ability using a microscope and specimen sorting.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to work in a greenhouse.
- Ability to lift 30 lbs, bend repetitiously, work outdoors in hot, cold, and humid environments, and walk on uneven ground, occasionally.
