Your Specific Responsibilities:
The Refugee Health Program OPS APRN will work with the Refugee Health Program Coordinator/ Nursing Program Specialist and the Immunization Program Director to organize the health screening clinic activities.
- Regularly communicates with the Refugee Health team regarding clients registered in the program
- Conducts physical assessments and health screening checks for Refugee Health clients
- Provides referrals and immunizations
- Orders laboratory tests following Refugee Health Program protocols
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of medical terminology, principles, and analytical techniques of interviewing
- Knowledge of data collection and analysis principles and procedures
- Knowledge of advanced nursing principles including health assessment, physical exam, recommended immunizations, and medication prescription
- Ability to prepare reports, understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures relating to Refugee Health and common infectious diseases affecting this population
- Ability to understand and follow legislative policy direction as established in Federal and Florida Statutes
- Ability to provide customer service in a tactful and courteous manner; work independently; plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments; communicate effectively; establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
- Skilled in critical thinking and problem-solving techniques
- Computer skills including word processing, data entry, and email
Qualifications:
Minimum -
- Current licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in accordance with Florida Statute 464, eligible to practice nursing in accordance with Florida Administrative Code 210-8.27, or possess a nursing multi-state license through the Nurse Licensure Compact
- Experience providing culturally competent care to adults and children from different cultural backgrounds
