The Production Supervisor will demonstrate leadership in communicating business goals, programs, and processes for an area or business segment. In this role you will utilize your experience or expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and effect short-term and some long-term business goals.
Develop and execute a proactive safety program, focusing on the elimination of safety hazards, improvement of ergonomic risks, and completion of required EHS training
Interface with customers and facilitate test customer witnesses through coordination with the Quality and Customer Relations group
Work closely with the Production Associates, the Test PQE, engineering, and other manufacturing cells to drive disposition and conduct necessary rework for discrepancies found during testing operations
Develop testing schedules for multiple gas turbine and accessory base models across multiple test stands, consistent with the goals and objectives of the operations department
Arrange for and provide adequate staffing to meet the production schedules consistent with the on-site budget and with current business levels
Provide direction to support needs of the production area, including manpower, work assignments, scheduling of overtime, and training
Responsible for reviewing and maintaining department contract labor and expense budgets, and for explanations for all variances
Support, encourage and facilitate Lean Manufacturing principles by providing adequate time for training and for project teams to accomplish continuous improvement projects
Work to maintain and further develop a Visual Workplace including support for a 5-S program, active project boards, performance measure charts, and training program status boards
Develop and support the growth of all employees
Support all company workplace policies including attendance and safety objectives
Work with HR to develop a performance oriented work environment encompassing timely performance appraisals, 30, 60, and 90 day reviews for new employees, timely disciplinary action when warranted and compensation programs which encourage employees to excel
Qualifications/Requirements:
4 year degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma/GED with at least 4 years of experience in an operations or management position)
At least 3 additional years of manufacturing supervision experience
Desired Characteristics:
Six Sigma training is preferred (GE employees only)
