Job description

Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.
To deliver these complex solutions, as the Operational Excellence Technical Program Manager you will partner with peers across all Kuiper teams, including hardware, software, supply chain, manufacturing, launch, test etc.
Candidate superpowers should include ownership, insist on high standards, continuous improvement, stakeholder management, innovation, creating clarity out of ambiguity, and enabling productive collaboration.
Export Control Requirement:
Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Key job responsibilities
The Operational Excellence Technical Program Manager for Kuiper production will support the quality and production team's continuous improvement processes (CAPA, yield improvement, takt and cycle reductions, issue reduction) by setting an Operational Excellence framework that identifies repeat offenders and most impactful issues and track actions/projects to eliminate them. This TPM will define and track the metrics key to ramping up our satellite production.
A day in the life
This role will be highly collaborative, requiring partnerships with cross-functional leaders to drive positive results. This role requires ability to advocate on behalf of our customers (internal and external) and an ability to push back without being adversarial.
You will tackle challenging, novel situations every day and have the opportunity to work with multiple technical teams at Amazon in different locations. You should be comfortable with a high degree of ambiguity and relish the idea of solving problems that haven't been solved at scale before. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of technical product or Program Management experience
- 3+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience
- Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules
- Experience developing and executing/delivering product and technical roadmaps
- Bachelors degree in engineering (aerospace, aviation, mechanical, electrical, industrial) or equivalent experience
- Experience driving improvement in manufacturing and production environment
- Experience owning cross-functional program strategy, end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management experience
- Masters degree in engineering (aerospace, aviation, mechanical, electrical, industrial)
- 3+ years of experience working in aerospace or aviation
- 2+ years of driving process improvements and Operational Excellence experience
- Experience with data analytics tooling Tableau, Power BI, Quicksight, SQL
- Certification or experience with Program Management methodology including PMP/Lean Six Sigma/Kaizen
- Experience leading a manufacturing team or organization to increase production throughput
- Ability to regularly engage with senior stake holders and influence across the organization.
- Excellent analytical and interpersonal skills, with ability to work successfully across all engineering disciplines.
- High sense of ownership, urgency, and drive.
- Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical individuals.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $119,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $231,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
