POSITION SUMMARY

The Division of Health Policy and Administration(HPA) at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) School of Public Health (SPH)seeks to fill up to three tenure-track or tenured faculty positions at the rankof either Assistant, Associate or Full Professor beginning Fall 2024. We areseeking candidates for this position with expertise and a research focus in oneor more of the following areas: public health informatics, Health Policy, orpublic health management.

UIC SPH is the only public health school in Illinois that is fullyaccredited by the Council for Education in Public Health (CEPH), and it offersnumerous degree programs including Bachelor of Arts/Science in Public Health(BA/BS), Master of Public Health (MPH), Master of Science (MS), MS in Clinicaland Translational Science (MS-CTS), Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA),Doctor of Public Health (DrPH), and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), along withcertificate programs, MPH joint/dual degree programs, and MD/MS-CTS and MD/PhDdual degree programs.

UIC SPHconsistently ranks among the top 20 public health programs in the nation(ranked 17th nationally in the 2023 U.S. News & World Report). UIC SPH isone of 16 colleges at UIC, and part of the 7-college health sciences campus.UIC SPH received the second most research funding of all UIC colleges, with $54million in funding for fiscal year 2023. Nearly $38.9 million of that fundingcame from federal sources, primarily the National Institutes of Health. For morethan 50 years, UIC SPH has prepared public health practitioners, researchers,academic faculty, policymakers, and activists whose work positively affectshealth and well-being in communities that are diverse with respect to race,ethnicity, socioeconomic status, gender, sexual orientation, nationality, andreligion.

HPA, oneof the four Divisions in UIC SPH, is an interprofessional, transdisciplinarygroup of educators, researchers, practitioners, students, and staff dedicatedto seeking solutions to real-world problems and improving people's lives inChicago and around the world. Much of what we teach and undertake as researchis focused on tackling the underlying drivers of health inequity in order toformulate evidence-based policies to help promote health equity. HPA representsa variety of disciplines, including public policy, health economics, healthservices, political science, psychology, organizational behavior, public healthmanagement, public health informatics, public health practice, and law.


 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate is expected to have a PhD in or related toany of the following fields: Health Policy, public health management, publichealth, behavioral/social sciences, political science, health economics, publichealth informatics, health informatics, or data/computer sciences with an informaticsfocus.  A strong record of teaching, research, and experience withextramurally funded research grants is expected commensurate with career stage.
