OpenFaculty Positions - Computational Biology andInformatics
Texas Biomedical Research Institute is seeking to double itsfaculty over the next 8 years by recruiting multiple faculty to enhance andexpand each of the institute's Scientific Research Programs (https://www.txbiomed.org/research/):
Successful faculty candidates will be expected to synergize with faculty andstaff in existing Programs to foster Texas Biomed's efforts to become national/international leadersin infectious disease research, and research on vulnerable/susceptiblepopulations. Texas Biomed is a free standing, private nonprofit researchinstitute. It supports BSL2, BSL3 and BSL4 programs with unparalleledresources, and is the host institution of the Southwest National PrimateResearch Center (SNPRC), one of the seven National Primate Research Centerssupported by NIH in the U.S.
Texas Biomed seeks to recruit facultyof any rank to develop/expand a successful and impactful independent researchprogram in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, and/or Quantitative Biologythat will be supported by federal and independent agency funds. Texas Biomedcurrently has several investigators whose laboratories develop and employquantitative and computational approaches to study population genomics,host-pathogen interactions, viral/cancer immunity, aging, metabolic disorders,heart diseases, and obesity. We invite candidates with expertise in differentbranches of quantitative biosciences including computational biology,quantitative biology, biomedical informatics, and big data sciences to apply.Investigators that integrate experimental and computational approaches and havean interest in using single cell and spatial transcriptomics, aligned with andcomplementary to the Institute's three Scientific Research Programs, areencouraged to apply.
Qualifications: Ph.D., M.D. and/or DVM withexpertise in biomedical informatics, genomics, genetics, computational biology,medicine, biostatistics, or related disciplines. Demonstrated researchproductivity and evidence of an independently-funded federal research program.Experience working with interdisciplinary research teams, and mentoring membersof underrepresented groups. Established investigator candidates with evidenceof a strong collaborative research program and leadership skills will beprovided resources to recruit a team of two additional faculty withcomplimentary interests and expertise to expand the capabilities of TexasBiomed in these specific disciplines.
