JOB DESCRIPTION:
Responsible to the Logistics Manager for ensuring all work assignments are carried out. In addition, Dock Supervisor is a working supervisor. Supervises operations and personnel involved in material facilities functions such as inspection and identification, standards and storage, receiving/shipping, materials handling, facility safety, conduct inventory and assist the Logistics Manager with part of his/her responsibilities during absence.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
- Check all pertinent documents used by Shipping/Receiving to ensure they are filled out properly and are legible.
- Ensure all dock personnel are performing their assigned tasks in accordance with established directives.
- Ensure safety standards compliance
- Coordinates work schedule with Logistics Director.
- Determines requirements for storage.
- Assists when shorthanded or as needed.
- Establish priorities and assigns work to assure effective and efficient operation of functional areas.
- Supervises use of material handling equipment (MHE).
- Coordinates with transportation requirements.
- Operate MHE when needed.
- Assures uninterrupted flow of receipts and shipments.
- Coordinates with maintenance for placing property on work order for repair.
- Conduct on-the-job training (OJT) for material facilities personnel.
- Makes regular and frequent inspection of operations.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Knowledge of property accounting, methods of storing, receiving and shipping.
- Experience in supervising functions such as receiving, storing property, shipping and transferring property.
- Conducting inventories or segregating and preparing property for storage.
- Trained to operate Material Handling Equipment and be licensed.
PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT:
Hard hats, ear plugs or muffs, frocks, non-porous steel toe boots, hair nets, and beard nets must be worn at all times within the plant. Frocks are to remain in production areas unless they are to be replaced when soiled. Latex gloves must be worn when handling product or contacting sanitary surfaces.
