Job description

JOB SUMMARY:
Provide Occupational Therapy Services to serve students as needed throughout Newberg Public Schools.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Able to establish and maintain positive working relations with staff, students, and parents. Must have a bachelor's or master's degree in occupational therapy from an accredited Occupational Therapy Program. Must possess or be eligible for professional licensure by the state of Oregon.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Provide evaluations for students birth-age 21 years as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Provide evaluation and direct intervention with identified children; participate in the preparation and consultation of the Individual Education Plan (IEP) for children with disabilities; participate in the school district Assistive Technology Team; provide staff training within scope of expertise. Work collaboratively with general education and special education teachers to provide consultation and inclusion support for students, as appropriate.
QUALIFICATIONS DESIRED:
Experience working with students of a range of ages with varying needs. Specific experience working with students with autism spectrum disorder, sensory needs, and behavioral challenges desired. JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Language Skills: Ability to read English and comprehend complex technical language. Ability to write memoranda, correspondence, reports, and student achievement summaries in English. Ability to effectively present information in one-to-one and small group situations.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense to carry out detailed, but basic, written or oral instructions in English. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Other Skills and Abilities:
Ability to work collaboratively and establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisor(s), staff, students, parents and community.
Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk and may be continuously required to stand. The employee will frequently bend or twist at the neck and trunk while performing the duties of this job. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee continuously uses hand strength to grasp tools. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. The employee may be required to sit at a desk and use a computer for long periods of time.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Works in a school environment. Able to use a telephone, operate a computer, and use other office equipment. Able to drive to other program sites and meetings.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Salary and work year in accordance with negotiated agreement between licensed teachers and the district.
CLASSIFICATION:
District Wide, Probationary Position
CALENDAR/BENEFITS:
Part time position, 190 days per year starting as soon as possible upon hire.
Salary $23,321 - $47,954.50 per the 2023-2024 licensed salary schedule. Newberg Public Schools pays 6% PERS contribution, provides a generous insurance cap, long-term disability and life insurance. Optional Life, AD&D insurance, Short Term Disability, Tax Shelter Annuities, Section 125 health and dependent care accounts, Tuition Reimbursement, Professional Development and Employee Assistance Program through Uprise Behavioral Health available to all staff.
