Job description

Aiken Regional Medical Center in Aiken, SC is recruiting an Occupation Medicine specialist for an employed position. 

This will be an employed position providing occupational medicine and workers comp medicine for Aiken County and the surrounding areas, as there is a heavy business and manufacturing sector in the region with a demonstrated need for increased services.  The position will include the following:

  • Examine, diagnose, treat or prescribe courses of treatment within the scope of practice.
  • Provide preventative and health maintenance care, to include annual physicals, DOT and non-DOT physicals, and functional capacity evaluations.
  • Perform pre-hire examinations on patients referred by companies to determine if the patient is medically qualified for employment.
  • Facilitate referrals to other appropriate health providers when applicable.
  • Prepares patients for return to work after illness, injury or may act as a consultant to identify associated workplace health hazards.
  • Working knowledge of physical, chemical, and radiological hazards.
  • Understanding of customer in office and plant-site ergonomic science.
  • Ability to analyze the workplace and make recommendations for changes that reduce the likelihood of workers comp injuries.
  • Provide medical staff in-service teaching on specifics of occupational medicine interventions.

Ideal candidates will have the following:

  • Minimum 2-year Clinical experience in occupational medicine
  • Current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration number certification
  • Current certification for National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners through FMCSA
  • Knowledge and understanding of OSHA and NIOSH guidelines
  • Completed an Occupational Medicine residency-training program accredited by the American Board of Occupational Medicine (preferred)

Compensation will include a competitive base salary, benefits, sign-on bonus and relocation.
