Eastern State Hospital is currently recruiting for a full-time Nursing Assistant.
Functions at an advanced paraprofessional level in assisting with the implementation and operation of programs within an adult psychiatric facility. Assists in providing age appropriate and specific needs, treatment services, and performs related tasks as required. Provides direct patient care by planning, organizing and implementing psychiatric rehabilitation activities. Assists in escort of patients to and from activities. Assists in screening and basic assessment of patients. Provides documentation and keeps records of patient behavior. Assists in patient supervision of patients during treatment/support activities. Leads/co-leads activities groups in Recovery Mall. May supervise patients during outings. Implements hospital and departmental policies, procedures, rules and regulations in assuring a safe, therapeutic environment.
Given the COVID-19 pandemic and the need to protect patient, employee and visitor safety, UK HealthCare is requiring all employees to comply with its COVID-19 vaccination policy prior to starting employment. Therefore, as of September 15, 2021, UK HealthCare requires all employees, including new hires prior to their first day of employment, to submit appropriate documentation showing, i) completion of the first vaccination against COVID-19, or ii) completion of the full vaccination series against COVID-19 (i.e., two weeks past completing their complete COVID-19 vaccination series), or iii) approved exemption (medical contraindications or a sincerely held religious belief) through the formal exemption process from the COVID-19 vaccination requirement. For those employees who have completed the first vaccination against COVID-19 prior to their first day of employment, the second vaccination (if applicable) must be completed following the vaccine recommended schedule and a period of two weeks to be considered fully vaccinated
Minimum Requirements
High School Graduate or Equivalent is required. Associate Degree is preferred. No experience is required. Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
The employee shall become familiar with HIPAA regulations and do their utmost to protect all protected health information (PHI) and other personal or sensitive information within their trust in the course of state business by applying appropriate safeguards and sharing only the information required to deliver agency services. Any personal or sensitive information overheard or seen by the employee will be kept confidential by not sharing it with others, on or off the work-site grounds. Fully participate in all activities regarding the elimination of the use of seclusion and restraints in patient care including educational requirements, competency development activities, and meeting established performance goals and measures. Must have computer competency in approved systems. Must have excellent customer service skills.
