- Plans, coordinates and directs medical treatment and care services for assigned institution.
- Provides medical consultation for the long-range planning of additional health facilities and programs.
- Supervises the professional medical activities of assigned institution, ensuring adherence to policies pertaining to the delivery of medical services.
- Supervises preparation of progress notes, summaries and general evaluations of patient medical records.
- Establishes treatment procedures and guidelines for medical care services at assigned institution.
- Performs professional medical duties requiring the coordination of departmental health resources with those available in the community.
- Provides medical treatment services for inmate patients.
- Determines and prescribes medication.
- Develops and implements programs as needed to ensure SCDC medical services are in-compliance with all required health care laws.
- Consults with other physicians.
- Must participate in meetings.
