Job Description
Services in our main laboratories consist of eight technical areas (Blood Bank, Chemistry,Coagulation, Hematology, Urinalysis, Microbiology, Cytology and Anatomic Pathology) to performblood, tissue and body fluid analysis on patient samples and transfusion services. Specimen analysisis supported by our phlebotomy and specimen processing departments.
Minimum QualificationsEducation:Required - Bachelor's Degree or Associate Degree in Medical Laboratory Science or otherscience degrees accepted in conjunction with a combination of experience and training.
Training:RequiredEducation, training and experience to qualify as general testing personnel in accordancewith CLIA'88 regulations.Knowledgeable of laboratory regulations and proficient in aspects of continuous qualityimprovement.A current, comprehensive understanding of the concepts of laboratory medicine andhow this knowledge can best be applied, in direct collaboration with the patient careteam, in arriving at the correct diagnosis at the correct time on the correct patient.Experience: Varies with designated laboratory section.Preferred -1-5 Years in an acute care hospital laboratory.Certification, Licensure, Registration Requirements: Current credentials are required for allpractitioners requiring a license, certification or registration to perform their responsibilities.Licensure: - N/ACertification:Preferred - MLS (ASCP) or MLT (ASCP) or equivalent. MLS (ASCP) or MLT (ASCP) to beobtained within one year of hire.
