This position is located in the Patient Relations Office. The position serves as the contact person for all the individuals assigned to them. It is the responsibility of the Patient Relations Representative to interview the individual's guardian/custodian/parents upon admission to help determine financial eligibility and for helping to establish funding for individuals admitted to Murdoch Developmental Center. The Patient Relations Representative is responsible for:
- obtaining appropriate authorizations, identifying and explaining programs the individual might be eligible for or entitled to such as SSA, SSI, Medicaid, etc.
- responsible for all reviews to maintain eligibility for benefits and enters the financial data for each assigned individual into the Affinity system accurately and timely so that appropriate billing occurs on each individual.
- acts as the liaison between the Patient Relations Office and the Central Billing Office (CB0) and communicates with CBO any changes or updates in the financial situations from admission until close-out of the account.
- must perform related work as required by Patient Relations Director/Reimbursement Officer related to the eligibility, audits, funding, payments, etc. of the department/facility.

MDC is one of three regional developmental centers operating as part of the Division of State Operated Healthcare Facilities (DSOHF). MDC in Butner serves 25 counties in central NC. Murdoch has approximately 1600 employees providing residential services and supports to people with IDD, complex behavioral challenges and/or medical conditions whose clinical treatment needs exceed the level of care available in the community. In addition to regional admissions for adults, MDC operates four statewide programs, which include support for children and adolescents with complex needs.
