We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Inventory Associate to join our team. As a Merchandise Buyer & Inventory Control Associate, you will be responsible for procuring, cost comparisons, RFPs, vetting vendors, managing inventory levels, ensuring accurate record-keeping, and optimizing supply chain efficiency. Responsibilities:
- Price and procure inventory items from various suppliers
- Negotiate pricing and terms with vendors to ensure cost-effectiveness
- Source new suppliers and evaluate their reliability and quality
- Maintain accurate inventory records using Inventory Control systems such as AS400 or Oracle EBS
- Monitor inventory levels and generate reports on stock levels, shortages, and excesses
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to forecast demand and plan for future inventory needs
- Implement inventory optimization strategies to minimize carrying costs while meeting customer demand
- Conduct regular physical inventory counts and reconcile any discrepancies
- Coordinate with the warehouse team to ensure proper storage and organization of inventory
- Utilize MRP (Material Requirements Planning) systems to manage production schedules
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of Inventory Control principles and practices
- Proficiency in using inventory management software such as AS400 or Oracle EBS
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and generate insights
- Familiarity with supply chain management concepts and processes
- Ability to negotiate pricing and terms with vendors
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
