Job description

Job Description

Salary: $66,000 - $68,000

Shanti is a San Francisco based non-profit that builds human connections to reduce isolation, enhance health and well-being, and improve quality of life.

OUR HISTORY:  Shanti Project was founded in 1974 by Dr. Charles Garfield, as a psychologist working on UCSF’s oncology unit. Witnessing the profound isolation and loneliness experienced by so many of his patients, he resolved that no one should have to experience a life-threatening illness alone. He began to train volunteers to provide sophisticated emotional and practical support while listening deeply, with compassion, to the stories and needs of people facing serious illness and death. This was the beginning of San Francisco Bay Area’s Shanti Project. In the following decades, Shanti has grown to meet the evolving needs of our community. Today our staff and corps of volunteers serve more than 2,000 individuals annually with our unique model of holistic, one-on-one support.
