To strengthen our Neurology Missions team in the New England region, we are looking for a talented individual to fill the position of Medical Science Liaison, (Epilepsy and Epilepsy Rare Syndromes).
The MSL will identify and foster purposeful partnerships with key scientific influencers to drive new sources of patient value for the Epilepsy and Rare (epilepsy) Syndrome portfolio. They will engage in peer-level scientific exchange, optimizing understanding of UCB therapies for the correct patient segments in a scientific and balanced manner within the local health ecosystem. They will develop relationships of trust and mutual support built on common interests in fostering a deep, science-driven understanding of the treatment of epilepsy and rare syndromes. This individual will closely collaborate to advance local patient value-oriented initiatives (i.e., Medical, RWE) with key stakeholders. The successful candidate will ensure UCB Operational Compliance to the highest professional standards.
This position covers New England (Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine).The position requires effective territory management with approximately 70-80% of the time focused on stakeholder interactions across the region to develop and manage professional, peer-to-peer working relationships.

- Develop and manage trusted, collaborative, professional, peer-to-peer working relationships with Key Stakeholders including Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), Clinical Investigators, patient advocacy groups, and other regional influencers
- Further develop and refine scientific expertise and skillset through regular interaction with external and internal thought leaders
- Develop a thorough understanding of the pre-clinical, clinical, and other research/data that supports the safe and effective use of the Epilepsy and Rare Syndromes portfolio staying up to date with new research/data as it is released
- Manage and execute stakeholder engagement within a local region based on training, expertise, and individualized approaches to identifying local needs and opportunities
- Contribute meaningful insights to medical strategies and tactics
- Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure optimal territory management and patient care in a compliant fashion
- May lead/support other Medical Affairs projects or activities as assigned
- Bring value to internal and external stakeholders to impact patient care
You will contribute by:
- Fostering appropriate discussion of UCB medical objectives and findings through thought leader engagement and educational activities
- Representing UCB at local, regional, and national professional and academic conferences where issues related to the diagnosis and treatment of epilepsy and rare syndromes are addressed
- Proactively identify new ways to bring value to internal and external stakeholders
Interested? For this position, you'll need the following education, experience and skills:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Doctoral level degree, PharmD, Ph.D., and/or MD
- NP or PA with at least 3+ years experience as an MSL or 3+ years direct clinical experience in a relevant therapeutic area or 5+ years experience in the pharmaceutical industry
- Valid Driver's License
- Live within the territory
- Ability to travel 60-80% in the designated territory with limited travel outside of the territory as needed
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3+ years of MSL experience
- Professional (including clinical) experience in epilepsy and/or rare syndromes
- Business acumen with a strong understanding of the pharmaceutical industry, healthcare arena, and local ecosystem
- Excellent communication and presentation skills required
- Able to clearly articulate complex scientific concepts in 1:1 and group settings
- Capability to actively listen and process information to identify opportunities including innovative solutions and services
- Ability to take initiative on projects, identify what is necessary to complete tasks, and execute independently
- Team player and excited to work collaboratively across Medical Affairs and the local ecosystem team
