Medical Records Clerk
Reports to Office Manager
Background: Cahaba Medical Care Foundation is a community health center providing medical, pharmacy, dental, and behavioral health services to diverse underserved communities in Central and West Alabama. We are a Level 3 Patient-Centered Medical Home and Joint Commission accredited organization, committed to increasing integration and coordination of behavioral health and primary care. Purpose: CMCF is in need of a Medical Records Clerk to assist with conversion of paper charts into its electronic medical record.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Create charts for existing patients in electronic medical record
Scan existing paper documentation into patients’ charts in electronic medical record
Appropriately parse and label scanned documents in electronic medical record
Extract critical data from paper documentation to enter into data fields in electronic medical record
Collaborate with staff in home office, as well as at corporate headquarters, in order to
Model and support Cahaba Medical Care’s Core Cultural Competencies
Qualifications:
Advanced healthcare literacy, understanding of medical terminology, and familiarity with medical charting
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Disciplined sensitivity regarding confidential information
Must be able to use a computer and view screen for labeling and organizing scanned documents all day
