Medical Records Clerk

Reports to Office Manager

Background: Cahaba Medical Care Foundation is a community health center providing medical, pharmacy, dental, and behavioral health services to diverse underserved communities in Central and West Alabama. We are a Level 3 Patient-Centered Medical Home and Joint Commission accredited organization, committed to increasing integration and coordination of behavioral health and primary care. This is an exciting, fast paced practice with a strong mission and commitment to providing high quality care.

Purpose: CMCF is in need of a Medical Records Clerk to assist with conversion of paper charts into its electronic medical record.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Create charts for existing patients in electronic medical record

• Scan existing paper documentation into patients’ charts in electronic medical record

• Appropriately parse and label scanned documents in electronic medical record

• Extract critical data from paper documentation to enter into data fields in electronic medical record

• Collaborate with staff in home office, as well as at corporate headquarters, in order to

• Model and support Cahaba Medical Care’s Core Cultural Competencies

Qualifications:

• Advanced healthcare literacy, understanding of medical terminology, and familiarity with medical charting

• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills

• Excellent written and oral communication skills

• Disciplined sensitivity regarding confidential information

• Must be able to use a computer and view screen for labeling and organizing scanned documents all day
