POSITION SUMMARY:
The Front Office Representative welcomes patients, families, physicians and visitors to the office either in person or over the phone. The general duties include checking patients out and scheduling appointments, procedures, radiology tests, and outside referrals. Other duties include registration of patients (i.e. entering insurance and demographic information into HIS system plus producing registration and consent forms), receiving and directing incoming calls, answering questions for patients, and taking phone messages.
Hours: 730-430 or 8:00 am to 5 pm.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Completion of drug screening to comply with a Drug-Free Workplace.
- Completion of background check with the ability to be bonded.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Reliable transportation for travel to other satellite offices (s) on a regular basis for purposes of staffing ratios or during staff training when extra help is needed. ( 2 days’ notice will be given when required to report to a different office location)
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:.
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- Typing 35-40 wpm.
- Computer Experience required.
- Proficient Spelling/Grammar.
- Customer Service Experience.
- Reconcile Cash Drawer.
- 6 months of previous experience in a medical office.
LICENSURE AND CERTIFICATION:
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification is encouraged.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to read and interpret documents in English such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization. Additional languages preferred.
- Ability to multitask and ability to use a multiple phone line system. Organizational skills and knowledge of various insurance plans.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide and able to use a 10-key calculator.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Must be able to communicate with the age of patients served in the office.
- Participates in opportunities of continuing education.
- Demonstrates the ability to utilize recognized channels of communication.
- Demonstrates the ability to maintain good interpersonal relationships with patients, co-workers, and other health team members.
