Job Description
We are seeking an energetic, team oriented individual with excellent customer service skills to fill the position of Medical Front Office Receptionist / Scheduler. This is a cross-trained position involving reception, scheduling, working directly with patients, assisting the doctor. Ideal candidates will need to be able to shift gears and multi-task effectively. Previous medical office experience is preferred, but we are willing to train qualified candidates.
Candidates must have strong, professional, and compassionate communications skills, have a positive attitude, and be a self-motivator. We need someone who will be able to multi-task and work effectively under pressure.
Responsibilities
This is a dual role of being the first point of contact for patients in the clinic while supporting front office functions, as well as caring for patients in a Medical Assistant capacity while supporting back office functions when needed
● Responsible for keeping patients and families informed of wait times, monitor the flow of patients, processes patients for discharge including preparing charges, collecting payment, obtaining all necessary signatures and issuing receipts
● Performs patient care duties under the Medical Assistant scope of practice in the care setting
● Supports the organization with customer service and treating all of our patients with respect and dignity
● They ensure the clinic and front reception area is running smoothly and patient flow at the optimum, as well as provide patient care services in the back office medical setting, which will meet the specific needs of the patient.
● Responsible for insurance verifications with health insurance organizations
● Making appointments, collecting co-pays, and providing receipt of money in accordance with established procedures
● Ensuring the waiting and reception areas are kept neat and clean; reporting on any damage
● Updating various files and providing general office duties, e.g. faxing, data entry, scanning, etc.
● Acting as a liaison with patients and providers in a compassionate and kind manner
● Rendering administrative assistance to patients
● Helping out in the management of patient medical records
● Tend to patients and visitors, in person or on the telephone; answering or referring inquiries
● Maintaining phone calls within minimum rings and responding to inquiries in a detail-oriented and effective manner Job Requirements
Qualifications
● High School Diploma required
●Experience with multi-line phone systems
● Knowledge and/or experience an electronic medical record system
● Knowledge of medical terminology
● Ability to multitask, collaborate and communicate well with individuals of all backgrounds.
Experience preferred but not necessary, on the job training available.
