Salary & Benefits:$250,000 to $270,000. Schedule:Generally Monday through Friday. Work days and hours may shift depending on scheduling needs. The typical schedule will be 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.; flexibility is required including evenings as needed. This position is classified as a hybrid role with a minimum of 3 days onsite per week.
Summary:The Medical Director oversees all medical treatment to clients in The Center's Behavioral Healthcare outpatient clinics for substance use and mental health, as licensed by New York State by OASAS and OMH, respectively, including monitoring of medications and psychiatric evaluations. This includes administration, contract management, operations and staff supervision. The Medical Director also provides oversight to the HIV and Hepatitis C testing services provided at The Center.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:- Responsible for the overall medical treatment provided by the outpatient treatment programs at The Center for outpatient substance use and mental health and through HIV and Hepatitis C testing including psychiatric evaluation for treatment programs clients, ages 13 and up.
- Examine each treatment program client, or supervise other medical or health care staff who have been designated to do such examination, such as a consulting physician, physician's assistant, nurse practitioner, or registered nurse.
- Responsible for the ongoing monitoring of medications prescribed to clients in the outpatient treatment programs for substance use and mental health; the Medical Director may do so directly or through the supervision of other medical or healthcare staff as described previously.
- Provide medical oversight for the provision of HIV testing services at The Center, including coordination of care in conjunction with the HIV and Sexual Health Services Manager and other staff as necessary.
- Document all client sessions and follow-up encounters using the appropriate forms, case file format, and computer database(s), and provide other written documentation of program activities and proposals, as necessary ensuring compliance with licensing and funding source requirements.
- Attend the scheduled weekly outpatient substance use treatment program team meeting, the monthly case conference, HIV/Hepatitis C testing staff meetings, and participate in Center staff meetings including client treatment plan development.
- Regular meetings with the Senior Director of Behavioral Health, Director of Youth Counseling and Support, Director of Mental Health Services, and Director of Substance Use Treatment and Prevention for supervisory and program planning purposes.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Board-eligible or Board certified physician in Psychiatry.
- Board-eligible or Board certified in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry a plus.
- Minimum 5 years of clinical experience in working with adults and youth/young adults who have substance use and mental health-related problems.
- Experience prescribing Suboxone.
- Significant experience working with LGBTQ+ populations, including knowledge of the spectrum of gender identity and transgender issues
- Strong interpersonal communication, writing, verbal and public speaking skills (bilingual a plus)
- Highly organized; able to handle multiple tasks at once
- Knowledge, understanding and experience working with LGBTQ+, TGNC, POC, and immigrant populations, including knowledge of the spectrum of gender identity, transgender issues, immigration, and POC issues.
- Understanding of, and commitment to, undoing structural and institutional racism and bias and the spectrum of gender identity and bias. Thoughtful and articulate analysis of the above, and consideration of the impacts and outcomes in decision-making processes and on underserved and historically oppressed communities as it relates to The Center's work.
