iMedX is hiring Full-Time Medical Coding Specialists with an emphasis on Inpatient ProFee coding. The positions are full-time, hourly paid, and you work from home! Coding fluency in physician services in an inpatient setting or Coding fluency in inpatient accounts in a Skilled Nursing Facility coding experience a plus!
PURPOSE
The Medical Coding Specialist abstracts clinical information from health records and assigns accurate and complete codes in accordance with Official Coding Guidelines and iMedX's standards as appropriate.
Reports To: Coding Manager
The Medical Coding Specialist will focus primarily on ensuring accurate and complete work based on departmental objectives while ensuring client satisfaction to include the following responsibilities:
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Abstracts relevant clinical information from the health records.
- Identifies all appropriate diagnoses based on Coding Guidelines.
- Identifies procedures based on Coding Guidelines.
- Assigns ICD-10-PCS codes.
- Assigns applicable codes for inpatient cases based on Coding Guidelines.
- Complies with the Clinical Coding Initiative (CCI) edits when assigning codes.
- Meets or exceeds iMedX coding quality standards.
- Understands and adheres to all requirements related to coding compliance.
- Performs coding in an efficient and productive manner utilizing good time management and professional work habits. Meets productivity standards for position.
- Refers coding questions to Coding Manager in a timely manner for feedback and coding guideline development.
- Continually enhances coding skills. Participates in team meetings and educational conferences to ensure coding practice remains current
- Maintains confidentiality and safeguards the privacy of protected health information (PHI).

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Education:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Completion of a formal coding program. Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or other AHIMA or AAPC approved coding credential.
Experience:
- Minimum of three (3) years’ coding work experience encompassing a working knowledge of the ICD and CPT coding systems; medical terminology; anatomy and physiology; and health record content.
- Coding fluency in inpatient accounts and Skilled Nursing Facility.
- PC proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet and database software
- Communicates daily with clients and supervisor exhibiting adaptability, excellent customer service, and professional written and verbal communications skills.
- Maintains enthusiasm and a sense of urgency towards work.
- Accepts responsibility and accountability willingly.
- In all activities, uses analytical, judgment, and decision-making skills in meeting the objectives of the position with an excellent eye for detail.
Physical Work Environment: Personal computer meeting the requirements of the position in a home-based environment that involves long periods of sitting with repetitive motions of hand and arm and may include frequent bending and twisting.
