In this role, you will be responsible for providing back office support for physicians and patients in the assigned Dermatology clinic in Santa Monica. The patients are escorted to exam rooms. Vitals are taken with a chief complaint. Surgical trays are prepared as necessary as well as the cleaning of the exam room to prepare for the next case. Various reports such as lab, pathology, and physician’s notes are prepared ahead of time for the physician to see the patient. You will also play a significant role in the flow and the line of communication required to maintain an adequate, organized rhythm of the clinic on a consistent daily basis. Due to the various demands on floor, the incumbent is expected, at times, to maintain a rapid flow while performing at the quality of care required by the clinic’s needs. Required: * Completion of Medical Assistant authorized program by the Dept. of Education or post secondary institution accredited or approved by the bureau of Private Post Secondary and Vocational education in the Dept. of Consumer Affairs * BLS Card American Hear Association * Demonstrated completion of ten clock hours of training in administering injections and performing skin tests, and/or ten clock hours of training in venipuncture and skin puncture for the purpose of withdrawing blood, and satisfactory performance by the trainee of at least ten each of intramuscular, subcutaneous, and intradermal injections and ten skin tests, and/or at least ten venipuncture and ten skin procedures * Travel to assigned clinic as directed by manager for coverage * Knowledge of dermatologic terminology and disease condition sufficient to communicate treatment status with patients and their families, medical faculty and staff, and other health professionals * Ability to keep a running inventory * Knowledge of UCLA forms, patient admissions, etc. * Knowledge of surgical dressing applications * Knowledge of lasers * Skill in setting priorities which accurately reflect the relative importance of job responsibilities * Knowledge of surgical instruments * Knowledge of operating and maintaining standard surgical medical equipment * Skill in working independently and following through on assignments with minimal direction * Skill in performing under the stress of frequent interruptions and/or distractions * Skill in performing a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature * Skill in analyzing information, problem situations, practices or procedures to define the problem or objective and formulate logical and objective conclusions * Skill in organizing workflow to accomplish established objectives, delegating responsibility; training new employees. * Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with staff.
