Job Description
Provides support for the Manager of the Medical department in all phases of patient care. Directs visitors and injured employees to appropriate area or medical personnel. Monitors the accuracy of documents for medical records and Workers’ Compensation. Works under the direction of the M.D. or Physician Assistant. Reports to the Supervisor of the Medical department. Interacts with all levels within the company, as well as outside providers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES
• Acquires and maintains accurate information regarding employees’ injuries and, subsequently, employees’ follow up exams. Under supervision of medical provider, renders first aid to injured employees per department procedure manual protocol.
• Triages and evaluates injury severity for purpose of patient flow and treatment.
• Treats minor first aid wounds and does dressing changes with proper chart documentation.
• Responds and maintains radio contact with EMTs/Firemen on emergency calls.
• Prepares patients for exams and maintains back office flow.
• Answer telephones, takes and relays messages, answers questions related to the Medical Department. Performs related general duties such as filing and sorting.
• Responsible for archiving and inventory off all Medical records and x-rays for the Dept.
• Responsible for Respirator Fit-Test program, training and supervising of light duty staff in relation to Respirator Fit-Test Program. Ordering and maintaining supplies.
• Other responsibilities and duties as assigned.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
• High School diploma or equivalent. Must have completed or graduated from an accredited Medical Assistant Program. Certificate in Medical Assistant.
• Venipuncture certified and CPR certified.
• 4 to 6 years of experience as a Medical Assistant or equivalent experience in front and back office.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Requires extended periods of standing, walking, and sitting (8 hours per day). Requires ability to use hands and fingers to handle objects and do paperwork. Must be able to speak and hear effectively. Work environment is office-type setting, a fast pace at times. Noise level is usually moderate.
