Job description

Job Description

The coolest jobs on this planet... or any other... are with Lockheed Martin Space.

At the dawn of a new space age, Lockheed Martin is a pioneer, partner, innovator and builder. Our amazing men and women are on a mission to make a difference in the world and every single day we use our unique skills, talents and experiences to design and build solutions to some of the world's hardest engineering problems. Do you want to be part of a team who inspires employees to envision the impossible, perform with excellence and build incredible products? We provide the resources, inspiration and focus-if you have the passion and courage to dream big, then we want to build a better tomorrow with you.

Fleet Ballistic Missiles (FBM) is one of Lockheed Martin's best-in-class Lines of Businesses that prioritizes partnership, integrity and reliability. Controls Engineering is an organization within FBM that facilitates control of the missile through servo actuators, gas hydraulic systems and small rocket motors.

We are a community of engineers looking for a dependable engineer to join our tight-knit group. The Mechanical Controls group is an organization within FBM that is responsible for the design and production support of the systems that control the missile both before and after boost. This position is for an Engineer in
Controls Engineering that both collaborates well in a team environment and has excellent communication skills. Additionally, in this role, you will have numerous opportunities to represent the
Controls team with our Navy partner and with LM leadership, with many opportunities for career development along the way.

As part of our team you will work with an integrated hardware design team. You will be an analyst responsible for the architecture and creation of our Systems Modeling (SysML) effort to create integrated systems models of the mechanical controls systems of the FBM missile to support SRR and down-select trade studies. These complex models will simulate both the Thrust Vector Control (TVC) system, which is a mechanical system which combines energetics and hydraulics, & the Post Boost Control System (PBCS), which is powered by high temperature gases. These models will combine dynamics, propulsion, and stress analysis into an integrated model to simulate all aspects of the system during flight. You will use cutting edge tools to model these complex systems and simulate their behavior during flight .

AS A VALUED MEMBER OF OUR TEAM YOU WILL:
- Develop technically complex models

- Lead investigations

- Contribute to new business trade studies

- Enhance cross discipline product development

- Participate in mentorship opportunities and professional development

- Be the technical interface to FBM management, systems engineering, quality, and our Navy counterparts.

To promote the sharing of ideas, Lockheed Martin cultivates an inclusive work environment that inspires differences and big-picture thinking.

Our employees play an active role in strengthening the quality of life where we live and work by volunteering more than 850,000 hours annually. Here are some of the benefits you can enjoy:
