SUMMARY
Researches, plans and designs factory layouts, mechanical and electromechanical products and systems, and coordinates activities involved in factory line installations, fabrication, operation, application, installation, and repair of mechanical or electromechanical products and systems by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Reviews project documentation and drawings to ascertain test specifications, procedures, objectives, test equipment, nature of technical problem, and possible solutions such as part redesign, substitution of material or parts, or rearrangement of parts or subassemblies.
Researches and analyzes data such as design proposal, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application.
Designs products or systems such as, instruments, controls, robots, engines, machines, and mechanical, thermal, hydraulic, or heat transfer systems.
Designs factory process and packaging lines from equipment selection to layouts and installation with attention to efficiency, cost and the best use of space.
Plans and directs personnel in fabrication of test control apparatus and equipment, and development of methods and procedures for testing products or systems.
Directs and coordinates fabrication and installation activities to ensure products and systems conform to engineering design and specifications.
Coordinates operation, maintenance, and repair activities to obtain optimum utilization of machines and equipment.
Designs products and systems to interface machines, hardware, and software.
Evaluates field installations and recommends design modifications to improve processes and to eliminate machine or system malfunctions and improve efficiency.
Records test procedures and results, numerical and graphical data, and recommendations for changes in product or test method.
Interprets operational data and financial reports to identify problem areas and propose solutions.
Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree (BS.) in Mechanical Engineering from four-year college or university; or two (2) to four (4) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. An equivalency of education could possibly fulfill formal degree requirements.
Proficiency with AutoCAD, SolidWorks and Microsoft office applications required.
Knowledge of PLC, electrical controls, servo drives, pneumatics, hydraulics, and process instrumentation required.
Knowledge of OSHA/NEC and other relevant government regulations desired.
LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
