The person in this position will rebuild/repair damaged vehicles (buses, trucks, cars, etc.) and restore these vehicles to Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) requirements as needed. This will include component repair, panel and section repairs, and section and overall refinishing. Evaluate and diagnose special damage problems. Prepare estimates of accident damages to department-owned vehicles. Perform complete inspection of vehicles to insure estimate includes all repairs necessary to return vehicles to pre-accident operational status. Notify supervisor of any unusual or significant damages. Assist Shop Clerk in the ordering, maintenance, and inventory of parts and supplies for Body Shop. Provide other services in support of the school bus maintenance mission or the Office of Transportation mission as instructed by the supervisor.

Work experience that involved the independent performance of job duties directly related to the area of employment.Four (4) years of mechanical experience in automotive or related repair; or any combination of training and experience that would enable an applicant to acquire the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities. Required to lift objects weighing 50 pounds and to move objects weighing 125 pounds 30 feet. Must be able to operate power, hydraulic, and electronic equipment. Must possess or acquire within 120 calendar days a valid Class A or B CDL with Tank Vehicle, Passenger and Air Brake endorsements, and criminal background check.
