Qualifications:
- A Bachelors Degree in education
- Masters in Mathematics Preferred but not required
- Licensure requirements: 154
- A valid Mississippi teaching certificate
- Strong communication, both oral and in written, skills are required
- Strong interpersonal skills are required to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, students, parents and members of the community
- Thorough knowledge of the fundamentals of mathematics
- Thorough knowledge of the principles and methodology of effective teaching
- Possess and maintain a valid driver's license
- Any other qualifications deemed appropriate by the Board
The teacher is elected by the school board upon the recommendation of the principal and superintendent. The teacher carries out the policies of the school as directed by the principal and is responsible directly to the principal.
The primary functions and duties of the teacher are as follows:
- Direct all activities of the classroom
- Maintain control of the class
- Assume responsibility for the care of the classroom and equipment assigned to him
- Inform, explain, and demonstrate how, to students
- Assist in extracurricular activities and duties as assigned by the principal
- Maintain records and submit reports to the office as required
- Report to parents concerning progress of students
- Belong to local and state professional organizations
- Attend various meetings and activities as required by the Principal
- Prepare requests for approval of needed supplies and equipment
- Report maintenance problems to the office
- Refer major discipline problems to the principal
- Maintain a professional working relationship with co-workers and administrators
